Business3000 Inspired by Enspire

rapid growth cloud computing company takes out two prestigious Victorian awards

Melbourne, October 20, 2011 Enspire, a Melbourne-headquartered cloud computing innovator, is pleased to announce the win of two accolades at Melbourne’s Business3000 Awards, leading the Business Innovation category, and being awarded overall Business of the Year 2011, presented by the Deputy Lord Mayor of Melbourne, Susan Riley.

Business3000, proud partner of Enterprise Melbourne, aims to promote business success and excellence in Melbourne. The achievements and innovation of Melbourne businesses are acknowledged and recognised through an annual awards program.

Enspire is a cloud-based hosted desktop, infrastructure as a service and managed services specialist that works with clients ranging in size from 15 to 450 seats, across a diverse range of industries. It was nominated for the Innovation award and then went on to win overall Business of the Year 2011.

The Business of the Year Award is calculated according to the highest scored submission across all of the four awards categories. It is the most prestigious Business3000 award and has been won by some remarkable Melbourne businesses, which have gone on to become internationally renowned and respected. Enspire was recognised for its high-grade products and excellent niche market exploitation, including excellent market research and competitive analysis with clever use of marketing and PR. It was particularly recognised for its people management program.

The Business3000 Awards luncheon event completes the hugely popular Innovation Series for 2011 by showcasing the annual award nominees in each of the key categories; Innovation, Community Responsibility, New Business & Export. A wide range of businesses were involved, from environmental and energy products, through to manufacturing, design, professional services, social and youth services.

A pioneer of cloud computing since August 2006, Enspire undertook a strategic re-engineering exercise in 2009 which involved a bold evaluation of the company’s future. CEO, Geoffrey Nicholas credits the awards to a combination of developing and holding true to a vision, and investing in people who wanted to be a part of something unique.
“As a former integrator, we hit a point where we recognised it was time to ‘do or die’,” Mr Nicholas explained. “The market was in gradual decline and we simply weren’t growing, let alone innovating. We undertook a confronting look at ourselves and the industry and transformed the business and the team. We built a strategic framework upon which to base our future success to include four key tenets: people matter, service excellence matters, scalability matters and improving sales capacity matters. Technology is a component in this, but largely it’s a strategy built around our people.”

“We commend Enspire for both of its wins, they are a tremendous accolade. Every emerging business that enters these awards has already achieved something worthy of recognition - they have become an ambassador for Melbourne and contribute to the unique position that this city holds in the Australian business sector,” Soozey Johnstone, Chair - Business3000.

“The Business3000 Awards process offers nominees an exemplary opportunity to take a closer look at their business operations and to consider how they’re differentiating themselves in the ever-changing, highly competitive market place.”
The judging included a team employed by City of Melbourne which recognised a number of major achievements by Enspire over the past 18 months including:

• Investment in leading-edge Vblock technology from Cisco, VMware and EMC
• Relocation to a n+1 data centre
• Attraction and retention of more A-type people into the business
• Right people in the right jobs
• Growing sophistication in Service Delivery model
• Focus on the right clients, in the right markets in, targeting the right products and services
• Ongoing quarterly review of the strategic plan, aligned with quarterly 90 day plans for all staff members.
